CAROL ANN CRAGAR died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013. She was bornin Perry, Ark., on Dec. 18, 1935, to Clyde A. Cragar and Okla Gibson Cragar. She was married to John W. Garmon, Jr. and had two children, Carol Suzanne Garmon and J. David Garmon,Md. Her daughter preceded her in 1987. Carol Cragar is survived by her brother, Darryl E. Cragar of Lake Jackson, Texas; her son who resides in San Diego, Calif.; nieces and nephews in Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee; and a host of friends. She was a source of love, support and comfort to all who knew her.

Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home at 6313 W. Markham St., Little Rock, Ark. Memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. at 1101 N. Mississippi, Little Rock, Ark.

JAMES DARRELL PLUMMER, age 70, of Little Rock was born March 21, 1943, and died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey “Jim” and Ala Mae Plummer; and only son, Ren Plummer. James is survived by his sisters, Diana Evans and Glenda Brazzel; several nieces and nephews; family and friends.

ARKADELPHIA - Gordon Earl Maroney Jr., 94 of Arkadelphia, formerly of Smackover, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 22, 2013. Gordon was born Oct. 10, 1919, to the late Gordon Earl Maroney Sr. and Minnie Louise (Sehon) Maroney in Huttig, Ark.

He was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Smackover, where he served many years as a Deacon, Sunday School superintendent, on the building and grounds committee and was a member of the J.O.Y. Club. He was a very loving husband and father. He and his wife enjoyed serving the Lord as well as fishing and spending time with their two boys. He and his brother, “Charlie,” enjoyed playing country music together and were known as Pecos Pete and the Cowboy Serenaders. He played the fiddle while his brother played the guitar and was the lead singer. He also loved the sport of baseball and played in the semi-pros until he joined the service.

He was raised in Huttig and graduated from Huttig High School in 1938. Shortly after graduation, Gordon entered the Army Air Corps at Camp Robinson in Little Rock, Ark., and then completed basic training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He completed the Academy of Aeronautics in December 1941 at LaGuardia Field in New York and later reported to Gunter Field Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala., where he was a PFC aircraft mechanic. He met and then married the love of his life, Myrtle Waldrop on Oct. 26, 1944, in Montgomery, Ala. He graduated from C-54 Transport School in California in 1945. Gordon discharged from the Air Force at Barksdale Air Force Base as a Tech Sgt. in Shreveport, La., in 1945.

After serving in the Air Corps during WWII, he began his career in the line department at AP&L in 1946 in El Dorado, Ark. He was later assigned to service crews in Strong and Smackover for several years before going to the control room in 1978 as a dispatcher. He retired after 38 years of service to AP&L in 1984.

He also belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and served as president of the local union for several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Myrtle W. Maroney; an infant sister, Mary Virginia Maroney; two brothers, Woodrow W. (Beau) Maroney and Charles T. Maroney; and his sister, Patty Sue McVicker. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Norma Gene Howell of Magnolia; and his two sons, Rev. Gordon E. Maroney III of Smackover and Michael R. Maroney and his wife Lora (Hendrix) Maroney of Arkadelphia.

Services will begin on Friday morning, Nove. 29, 2013, with family visitation from 9-10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Smackover at 201 W. 7th to be followed with services officiated by Raymond Wells at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Harper Springs Cemetery in Huttig. GREENBRIER - Isabelle Clara Nagel Milam, 82, of Greenbrier,passed away Sunday, November 24. She was born February 20, 1931, in Perry Ark., the youngest of six daughters to the late Nick and Anna Blount Nagel. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and of the Catholic faith.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Maria Jean Russell, of Greenbrier; her three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her oldest and only surviving sister is Elizabeth “Lib” Lanni of Center Ridge, Ark. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and precious friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gene W. Milam, grandparents, children; Rebecca Ann Milam, Mark Eugene Milam, and four dear sisters; Margaret Rath, Josephine Gottsponer, Ann Nahlen and Rosemary Ruff.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Conway, Ark., with burial to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. SEARCY - Dr. George Edward Baggett entered eternal peace andglory on Sunday, November 24, 2013 after serving the Lord for 85 years. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on May 17, 1928 to Elmer Baylor Baggett and Rosa Nelle Perry Baggett. Dr.Baggett graduated from Harding College in 1950, received his Masters in 1951 from UMKC, and his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma in 1974. He worked at Harding University for 40 years as the Chorale Director, Band Director, and Professor of Music. He conducted many singing schools and Vacation Bible Schools. He served as Secretary and President of the Arkansas Music Educators Association, was a member of the College Band Directors National Association, and Charter Director of the Searcy Community Summer Band. Dr. Baggett was a Charter member of the Optimist Club and served in many roles including Secretary Treasurer, Lt. Governor and President, with more than 40 years of perfect attendance at Optimist Club meetings. He was a founding member of West Side Church of Christ and served as an elder. Eddie and Jeannette loved to travel; some of the places they visited were The Holy Lands, Italy, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and many places in the continental United States.

He is survived by one daughter, Rosemary B. Wilson of Springdale, Arkansas; and one son, Robert Baggett and wife Melina of Sulphur, Louisiana. He is also survived by three grandsons, Michael Wilson and wife Jamie of Olathe, Kansas, Matt Wilson and wife Andrea Jo of Rogers, Arkansas, and Doug Baggett and wife Kristin of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is survived by two granddaughters, Kelly Petross and husband Chad of Sulphur, Louisiana and Christy Heddins and husband Caleb of Guam. Dr. Baggett has 11 great-grandchildren, four girls & seven boys. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jeannette; his brother, Richard; his father, Elmer; and his mother,Rosa Nelle.

Visitation and the funeral service will both be at the West Side Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas. BROOKHAVEN, Miss. - Willie James “Sonny” Brown, a son, brother, uncle, friend, preacher and singer was born December 8, 1944 in Pulaski County, Arkansas. Sonny was educated in the North Little Rock School District and graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School in 1963. He also attended Philander Smith College.

Sonny professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church when he accepted the call in the prophetic ministry. He preached his first sermon under the pastorage of Rev. C. E. Canady on the fourth Sunday in March of 1964.

On Saturday, November 23, 2013, Rev. Willie James Sonny Brown transitioned to his eternal resting place. He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Wayne Gray, Kenneth Gray and Beauje Moore of North Little Rock, Arkansas; three sisters, Esther Watson (Sherman), North Little Rock, Cynthia Edwards (Ben), Morrilton, Arkansas; Deborah Janecki (Chet), Seminole, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend and Brother in Christ, Rev. THE WOODLANDS, Texas - United Airlines Captain MartinEdwin Best, 51, of The Woodlands, Texas, topped the windswept heights and touched the face of God on November 22, 2013, after a courageous year-long battle with lung cancer. Marty was born in Little Rock on July 31, 1962, and developed his passion for flying at Little Rock Central High School, where at age 16 he became the nation’s youngest Air Force Junior ROTC cadet ever to solo. He attended Henderson State University at Arkadelphia, where he served as a student flight instructor and was elected class president. While at Henderson he met beautiful Mary Ann Graf of Hot Springs, who became his devoted wife of 29 years. Three days after graduation he was in his first job, flying DC3’s for Four Star Air Cargo in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Subsequent assignments took them to Puerto Rico and then to Hawaii in 1987 when he was hired as a Flight Engineer by Continental Airlines. This gave him the unique opportunity to fly the DC-10 on far-flung routes like New Zealand, Australia, Guam, and Paris, France. He then transferred to Continental’s base in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was promoted to First Officer on the 737.

After transferring back to Continental’s home base of Houston, Texas, they became members of The Woodlands United Methodist Church, a transforming moment in their lives. Both became active workers for The Lord, developing a host of wonderful Christian friends. After Continental merged with United Airlines, Marty subsequently received the promotion he had dreamed of - Captain for the nation’s largest airline.

Captain Best is survived by his wife Mary; his parents, Pat and Eddie Best of Searcy, Arkansas; a brother, Dr. Tim Best and his wife Nancy and their son Daniel of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Mary’s father, Charles Graf Sr. of Hot Springs, Arkansas and her mother Marilynn Graf and step-father Joe Johnston of Hot Springs; and many loving inlaws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 30, in Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Chapel at 5800 West 12th in Little Rock, followed by burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 29, also in the Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Chapel. A memorial service will be held at The Woodlands United Methodist Church at 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, Texas, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 7. The family expresses appreciation to the staff at M.D. Anderson and St. Luke’s Hospital, and care-givers Brandi Graf and her daughter Sarah Buck.
