GENTRY - Following a closed expulsion hearing on Oct. 1, school board members upheld a onecalendar-year suspension for a Gentry High School student.

The suspension was recommended by Randy Barrett, Gentry superintendent of schools, after a student allegedly sexually assaulted a staff member on the school campus.

No other information was released on the assault except that the matter was turned over to the Gentry Police Department for further investigation and possible criminal charges.

The hearing was closed at the request of the student’s parent or guardian.

The Gentry Police Department could not release the juvenile’s name but said the youth was charged with sexual assault, a Class B felony.
