Applicants sought for Sulphur posts

— During a special session of Sulphur’s City Council on Oct. 17, members accepted, with a unanimous vote, the resignations of former Mayor Simon, Councilman Bill Medley and Councilwoman Deborah Medley. Positions now open for qualifi edpersons include the office of mayor and council posts for Ward 2, Positions 1 and 2, and Ward 3, Position 1.

Open posts are available to a U.S. and town citizen not having a criminal history and being a registered voter for Sulphur Spring’s elections. The Ward 2 positions must be qualifi edpersons living west of Black Avenue and south of Spring Street. The Ward 3 position is open to anyone qualified who lives north of Spring Street. The mayor’s post is open to any qualified Sulphur citizen living within its city limits.

To apply for any of the above posts, qualifi ed persons should present, before a Nov. 8 deadline,their resume and a cover letter for the position they desire to Sulphur Springs City Hall and then attend the Nov. 14 regular council meeting.

During the open meeting, applicants, in person, will be asked to present to the council their qualifi - cations and reasons for desiring appointment to one of the vacant posts.
