Gentry School Board hires aides

— Gentry School Board members officially reorganized at their Oct. 14 meeting following the re-election of Randall Bolinger and David Williamson to the board in September.

The board received certifications of the electionof Bolinger and Williamson to the board and appointed Randall Bolinger as the disbursing offi cer and Dani Cypert as the alternate. Randy Barrett, district superintendent, was also re-appointed as the fiscal and legal agent of the board.

The board approved, on its fi rst reading, a policy change to the studenthandbook to include in the attendance policy the following as a valid reason a student may have to miss school: “Exceptions as necessary to satisfy Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 plans.” After required review by teaching staff, the proposed change willbe taken up for fi nal action by the board.

The board approved the hiring of Megan Welch as a special education aide and Patricia “Sissy” Wilmoth as a part-time migrant aide. A Family Medical Leave Act leave was approved for Veronica Brandon.
