Family Fall Festival

Heritage Baptist Church, located at 307 Fourth Ave., S.E., in Gravette, is inviting children in grades five and under, along with their families, to its annual Family Fall Festival from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30. There will be food, games, treats and prizes, and the funfilled night is absolutely free. For more information, call 787-6782.

Trunk or Treat

Church on the Hill, located on Hwy. 72, east of Gravette, is having a trunk or treat event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. There will be caramel apples, cider, cocoa, candy and games for the kids. For information, call Desiree at 787-5991 or 787-0094.

A of G Harvest Festival

First Assembly of God Church in Gravette will hold its Harvest Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the church which is located on Highway 72 west in Gravette. There will be lots of fun with games, candy and hot dogs. All are welcome, but scary or weird costumes are discouraged.

Methodist Trunk or Treat

Children are invited to visit the “Trunk or Treat” Halloween event at United Methodist Church in Gravette. Hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. Church members will be handing out treats to the children in promoting a safe and fun Halloween.

Harvest Baptist Fall Fest

Harvest Baptist Church, located two miles south of Gravette on Hwy. 59, will hold its annual fall festival and chili cook-off on Saturday, Nov. 2. Theday has been set aside for family fun. Activities start at 6 p.m. with supper, followed by games and prizes, a bounce house, face painting, bobbing for apples, a hay ride, concert and lots of food. Entries for the chili cookoff must be at the church by 5:30. There is a $5 entry fee and winner takes all of the fee money. Entries from the community are encouraged. For information, call 721-1650. Maysville Extension Homemakers Club is sponsoring a craft sale at the Maysville Community Building on Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Several vendors will offer handmade items for home decorating or gift items.

AG Church Events

The First Assembly of God Church in Gravette announces two upcoming events. The New Revival Quartet from Mannford, Okla., will present a musical program at 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3. The public is invited. A freewill offering will be taken. The preceding day, Nov. 2, a women’s mini-retreat will be held at the church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All women in the area are invited. Veterans Potluck Dinner

The Colcord, Okla., Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a potluck dinner for all area veterans and their families at 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Colcord Senior Citizens Center. All veterans are invited and asked to bring their favorite dish. For more information, call 918-868-7775.

Falling Springs Fundraiser

The Falling Springs Church will hold their annual pie auction and cake walk at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the church, 4 1/2 miles west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road. This is a tradition that has been ongoing for over 50 years. Proceeds will go for Christmas baskets, Christmas programs and aid for needy persons in the community.

Planning Commission Post

The Gravette Planning Commission has a vacancy for a new member who lives within Gravette city limits. The commission is seeking an individual who would like to be a part of future planning for the city. The city limits now extend from Gravette to the newly annexed areas on Highway 72 and east of Hiwasse. Those intersted in the position should attend the next scheduled commission meeting at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at City Hall on First Avenue S.E. in Gravette.

GED Prep Classes

Free GED prep classes and testing are being held at the Gravette Library now through Dec. 13. Classes are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the library, 407 Charlotte St. SE, in Gravette. Classes are open enrollment. Students may start any time and finish when they are ready. Call 986-6911 or simply show up to enroll in class.

Fall Concert

A fall concert, produced by the Siloam Music Festival Series and headlined by internationally known saxophonist, Grady Nichols, a Siloamnative, will feature two gospel choirs and over 50 local talented musicians, including Gabe Edmondson. Free Flu Shots

The Gentry Public Schools will be offering free flu shots to enrolled students on Oct. 31 in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health. Each child in the school district will be given a form to bring home which must be fi lled out completely and returned to the school nurse. This is an opportunity for children to receive the vaccine with no charge to parents, though insurance will be fi led. The vaccines will be given at the school on each campus throughout the day.

Meals on Wheels Benefi t

To help fi nance the Meals on Wheels program provided by the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center in Gravette, the center is conducting a quilt raffl e, with the drawing to be held Oct. 31. Participants need not be present to win. The 87 by 100 inch quilt was made and donated by Betty Howard. Tickets are $1 or six tickets for $5. All proceeds go to the center’s Meals on Wheels program which services Gravette, Sulphur Springs, Decatur, Maysville and Hiwasse.

Eye Screening for Vets

Dr. John A. Billingsley, III, ophthalmologist at Legacy Eye Center, is offering free eye screenings to area veterans.Veterans interested in a free screening may call 524-6115 to schedule a time. Legacy Eye Center is located at 500 S. Mt. Olive, Suite 102, in Siloam Springs.

Trick or Treat on Main

Trick or Treat on Main Street is set from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, on Main Street in Gentry. Children are invited to come and enjoy the fun, and local businesses are invited to participate. Contact the Gentry Chamber of Commerce for more information at 736-2358.

Decatur Food Pantry

United Christian Charities has opened a food pantry in downtown Decatur, across from Decatur State Bank, for anyone needing food in the northwest Arkansas area. The hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The point of contact is Tina Holt, 435-5699.

Maysville Pantry

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church opens its food pantry, Our Healing Hearts, every fourth Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for those in need.

Church Singing

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Praise and Worship

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church holds a praise and worship service at 6 p.m. everythird Sunday night, with refreshments following.

Tired Iron

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse, located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome. Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Men’s Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men’s fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings Decatur

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the fi rst Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road.
