Police tip line, city code now available on Gentry website

GENTRY - Two new features are being added to the city of Gentry website, enabling Internet users to read and review city code and to report criminal activity directly to police.

A digital copy of Gentry’s municipal code is now available online, making it possible for residents to look up and obtain information on city laws without driving to city hall. The online version refl ects the most recent update of the city code which was digitizedby the Arkansas Municipal League.

Readers should be aware that new ordinances and amendments adopted by the city council will not be immediately reflected in the online version. Therefore, readers should always check the offi cial copy at city hall if the code is being used in legal matters.

“Ongoing work is being done to index the code to make it easier for readers to search it by topic,” said Randy Moll, designer of the site.

A second new feature beingadded to the city website is a tip line which allows users to send encrypted crime tips directly to the Gentry Police Department.

Clicking on the crime-tip tab at the top of the website opens a form which is encrypted on the user’s computer before it is sent and then can be decrypted and read by the Gentry Police Department.

“The feature is being added to give area residents another means to report suspicious and criminal activity and to help police keep Gentry a safe place to live,” Moll said.
