Visiting the grocery store is quite a trip

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Have you had the experience of trailing your close relative through a supermarket and looking at all the things on the shelves? Well, go if you haven’t been! I must say it is a trip. And since I do not know what the LSD did for folks, I can’t compare; but let us say it is a trip!

My close relative needed to replenish the larder in our cabin and she invited me to go along. I neededto pick up some farm things, oil and fi lters, so I agreed to go along with her.

We stopped at the farm store first and she meandered around in the front stuff while I got what I needed and ate the sack of free popcorn. I never refuse the free snacks because I feel it might hurt their feelings if I did not partake. I am mannerly that way!

We had to stop at the first store to use a coupon for sugar, and it was crowded. Had to let the close relative off at the door and go park in the outback. I watched for her, sorta, and it was a job since I had parked the wrong way to see the doors. Cost me a little hide because she sorta chewed on me for letting her stand there a few minutes. Hard to understand some folks who are short on brotherly love.

We arrived at the main grocery shopping store at a nice time, just before the entire thing sold out! I have never seen so many folks buying taters and beans in one spot before

I have eaten cereal a few times in my life, Rice Krispies and Wheaties, but you can believe me, the stacks of boxes went on for dern near a city block. Choices and then more choices are provided for us folks, maybe so many choices it is confusing! Frosted shredded wheat or not, that was the question!

I spent some time at the candy aisle. They now have little packages of candy bars that are just little pieces, unwrapped, ready to pop into your mouth. I got me a couple of the kinds and will enjoy them.

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, we are so spoiled in Americawith choices that we are unable to see what we should choose. We throw away what we don’t like if we choose wrong because we can go back and make another unwise choice, or not, tomorrow. Too much opportunity and too many choices might make us fat and sullen. Folks are like that, easy to make fat and sullen. Seems like the only way to prevent it in this age of too much is some work and some good doing without.

Of course, I am not of that crowd! Smile and keep on working.

in all my years of life. I commented about the crowd to a feller piling bananas, and he said it wasn’t anything unusual. I have been to town before, don’t get me wrong, but where in the world do they all come from? It was only 10 o’clock in the morning.

I fell in behind my close relative and we picked up enough grub to take us through the winter, I figured! I saw mixes for gravy, a pot roast ready to put in the oven, pigs feet ready to boil and turkey legs! I wanted to buy one of the good looking cherry pies but my fi ngers got slapped. The picture on the box looked pretty good.
