Gentry police recover stolen pickup truck

GENTRY -- Police in Gentry, on April 3, recovered a vehicle reported to be stolen from Downstream Casino in Quapaw, Okla.

The vehicle, a 4-door, 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck, was located at Phoenix Auto Body Shop, at 103 N. Gentry Blvd., when a police officer noticed the truck matched the description of a truck reported stolen and obtained the vehicle identification number during a routine business check, according to police reports.

Gentry police were notified of the theft when the victim told the Quapaw tribal marshal that he had seen a photo of his truck on Craig's List and that it was being parted out, according to reports.

Further investigation revealed that Tim Brinegar, owner of Phoenix Auto Body, was selling the vehicle parts at the direction of Jon Nelson of Gentry. Nelson said he had purchased the pickup from a woman in Joplin, Mo., according to reports. Both Nelson and Brinegar said they were unaware of the truck being stolen.

Nelson, according to reports, agreed to cooperate with the tribal marshal's investigation of the theft.

The truck and its parts are being returned to their lawful owner, according to reports.
