Police to crack down on cell phone use

GENTRY -- Gentry Police Department announced its intention to crack down on drivers in school zones who are texting or using cell phones.

"We will be watching for and citing drivers who are using their cell phones while driving in school zones," said Rick Lane, Gentry's school resource officer.

Arkansas law prohibits texting, and the use of cell phones unless used hands-free, while driving in school zones. The action is being taken to prevent possible accidents involving students, whether in motor vehicles or as pedestrians.
