Area schools compete at Pioneer Relays

GENTRY -- Gravette boys finished third and Gentry fifth in the Pioneer Relays on Thursday. Gravette girls finished second and Gentry third in the track and field event, with eight schools participating.

Logan Foster, a Gravette senior, took second in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 51.89, and fourth in the 200-meter run.

Kyle Shaffer, a Decatur sophomore, took fourth in the 800-meter run. Alex Ellis, Gentry junior, finished in fifth in the 1600-meter run and in the 3200-meter.

Tyler Homer, a senior from Gravette, took a first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17:35. Cody Robinson took third in the event, finishing in 17:43. Robinson finished in a tie for second in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 44.97. Homer took fourth in the event at 45.36.

The Gravette relay team took third in the 4x400-meter run, with a time of 3:49.46. Gentry took fourth in the event.

Terence Pierce, a senior from Gravette, took first in the men's high jump, clearing 6 feet, 2 inches. Mario Urquidi, a Decatur junior, took third, clearing 5 feet, 10 inches.

Urquidi also took a second in the men's pole vault, clearing 11 feet, 6 inches. Kevin Easter, a junior from Gentry, took fourth with his vault of 10 feet, 6 inches.

Logan Foster, Gravette senior, took first in the long jump, clearing 21 feet, 5 inches. Kreg Hollis, Gravette junior, finished third in the event with his jump of 20 feet, 9 inches. Foster also took second place in the triple jump, clearing 40 feet, 5.5 inches, just .5 inches short of the first place winner from Farmington. Hollis finished fifth in the event.

Gentry took the top three spots in the shot put, with Zach Ellis, a junior, throwing 46 feet, 9 inches; Stone Faulkenberry, a junior, throwing 43 feet, 0 inches; and Alec Nelson, a senior, throwing 41 feet, 9 inches.

Ellis also took first in the discus, with a throw of 131 feet, 2 inches. Dakota Smith, a Gentry junior, took third, with his distance of 104 feet, 2.5 inches. Faulkenberry finished fifth in the event.

GIRLS

On the women's side, Taylor Eaton, a Gravette sophomore, finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.49.

Abbey Leonard, a Gravette sophomore, took second in the 200-meter dash with her time of 28.14.

In the 400-meter dash, Lauren Little, a Gentry sophomore, finished in the second-place slot with a time of 1:08.86. Tori Key, Gravette senior, took fourth.

Mallory Morris, Gentry sophomore, took first in the 800-meter, the 1600-meter and the 3200-meter runs, with times of 2:35.0; 6:14.0; and 13:48.0. Haleigh Perry, a Gravette junior, took third in the 800-meter race with her time of 2:52.0. Sarah Perrone, Gravette senior, finished in fourth; and Amanda Homer, Gravette sophomore, finished fifth.

Lacy Barrett, a junior from Decatur, took first in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 17.90. Nacona Dunlap, Gentry senior, grabbed the fifth-place spot in the race.

Barrett also finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Dunlap finished fifth.

The Gravette relay team took second in the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays with times of 52.87 and 5:02 respectively.

The Gravette ladies took first in the 4x800-meter relay, finishing the race in 12:02.63.

In the high jump, Kylee Davis, Gravette junior, finished in fourth, clearing 4 feet, 6 inches. But Davis finished first in the long jump, clearing 15 feet, 7.5 inches, and first in the triple jump, spanning 32 feet, 6.5 inches.

Abbey Leonard took a very close second in the long jump at 15 feet, 7 inches. Mallory Morris spanned 31 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump for a second-place finish. Lauren Little finished fifth in the event for Gentry.

In the shot put, Hannah Ramsey, Decatur senior, took fourth, throwing the ball 29 feet, 4.5 inches. Ashley Jackson, Gentry senior finished in fifth.

Abbey Leonard and Lacey Newell, both Gravette sophomores, took second and third place in the discus with throws, respectively, of 82 feet, 7.5 inches and 80 feet, 2.5 inches. Hannah Ramsey came in fourth in the event.
