GENTRY -- Gentry's Lady Pioneers lost a heartbreaker in the ninth inning to the Lincoln Lady Wolves on Thursday when Lincoln picked up two runs in the top of the inning and Gentry was only able to answer with one. The final was 8-7, Lincoln.

The Lady Pioneers took the lead in the first when Courtney Brown got on base on a field error and later scored when Jordan Olds hit a line drive out into center field.

Lincoln answered with two runs in the top of the fourth when Lexington Dobbs hit one over the center field fence.

But Gentry responded with three runs of its own. Christina Campbell and Samantha Curran singled and Shamere Corter doubled to right and all three scored.

Lincoln tied things up in the sixth on a pair of singles, a double and an error, making it 4-4 going into the seventh. And Lincoln's bats drove in another run to take the lead in the seventh, but Jordan Olds kept things alive for Gentry when she pounded a line-drive double to center and drove in Jaime Pierce, who had made it to first on a bunt down the third-base line.

Lincoln took the lead again in the eighth, but Gentry answered when Christina Campbell singled to the short stop and drove in Xitali Estrada, Gentry's runner placed on second for the extra inning.

But in the ninth, Lincoln managed two more runs and Gentry could only answer with one -- on a Brooke Boston single and a bad throw by Lincoln to move Corter across the plate.

Jordan Olds led Gentry in batting, picking up three hits and two RBIs in the extended game. Christina Campbell had two hits and an RBI.

Olds pitched nine innings and struck out 11 Lincoln batters.
