Gentry man accused of raping 2-year-old

BENTONVILLE -- A Gentry man was arrested Thursday in connection with the rape of a 2-year-old girl.

Jason Andersen, 35, was being held Saturday in the Benton County Jail with a $75,000 bond set. He was being held in connection with two counts of rape, a Class Y felony.

Prosecutors haven't filed a formal charge against Andersen.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the Benton County Sheriff 's Office received a complaint April 7 concerning the sexual abuse of a 2-year-old girl.

The girl's mother told a deputy she was giving her daughter a bath and her daughter described being touched by Andersen, according to court documents.

The mother also reported she once found blood spots in her daughter's pull-up.

Detectives interviewed Andersen and he initially denied sexually abusing the child.

Andersen admitted to inappropriately touching the girl on more than one occasion, according to the affidavit. Andersen also wrote a letter of apology to the child.

Andersen's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. May 19 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
