Gentry soccer girls off to great season

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers played Dardanelle in an away conference game on April 4 and came home with another big win, 8-0.

The match was decided early on, in the first half, with Amber Ellis putting the ball into the goal six times for the Gentry girls.

Haley Borgeteien-James and Autumn McMurtrey scored one goal each in the second half.

"I think that we are moving in the right direction," said Fabrizio Campagnola, Gentry girls' coach. "So far, I am pleased for the level of play we have achieved, but we continue to look forward," he said.

The Lady Pioneers beat Prairie Grove on the Gentry field Friday, 5-0. Amber Ellis had three goals. Haley Borgeteien-James and Brieann Ward had one each. Borgeteien-James also had two assists.

The Lady Pioneers beat the Prairie Grove team in Prairie Grove on April 8, 3-0. Amber Ellis scored three goals. Borgeteien-James and Ward each had one assist.

On April 7, the Lady Pioneers lost, 2-3, to Russellville in a junior varsity game. Amber Ellis had one goal and one assist.

The girls are now 8-2 overall, 3-0 in conference, and 2-0 in JV games.
