Hot Rolls and

Cinnamon Rolls

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center in Gravette is taking orders through Wednesday, April 16, for hot rolls for Easter dinners, as well as orders for cinnamon rolls. Hot fresh rolls are $5 per dozen, cinnamon rolls are $1 each or $12 a dozen. Orders will be available for pickup on Friday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds help provide funds needed for operation of the center.

Senior Center

Quilt Raffle

A queen-size quilt made and donated by Betty Howard will be given away April 30 by the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center. Tickets are $1 or six for $5. Participants need not be present to win. All proceeds go to help finance the Meals on Wheels program which serves Gravette, Sulphur Springs, Decatur, Hiwasse and Maysville. Tickets are available at the center.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Gentry Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 2 p.m., April 19, at Gentry City Park. Grand prizes of bikes and trikes will be given in each of the four age groups -- up to 3-year-olds; 4 to 6; 7 to 8; and 9 to 10. The bikes are sponsored by Tucker Chiropractic, AEP/SWEPCO/AECC, Turning Point Fellowship Church and Arvest Bank. There will be hundreds of other prizes as well, and this year the children will be able to keep the eggs they find.

Adopt a Senior

Gentry Senior Activity Center is part of the Hunger Coalition in Benton and Washington County and seeks to be sure no senior citizen goes hungry. To help, a senior citizen can be adopted and meals provided for them. The cost to prepare one meal is $5.79, but GSAC offers them to seniors for a donation of $3. People can help by buying a meal for a senior for a day, a week or a month. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1467 in Gentry, or dropped by the center any day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

GSAC Bake Sale

The Gentry Senior Activity Center is having a bake sale on Friday, April 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be many baked goods to choose from, and just in time for Easter.

Grilled Chicken Dinner

The Gentry Senior Activity Center is having a grilled chicken dinner on Friday, April 25, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The center will be serving chicken, potato salad, baked beans, a roll and dessert for a donation of $7. Proceeds will be used to help support the Senior Meal Program so that no senior goes hungry.

Area Quilt Class

The regular monthly quilt class at Gravette Church of Christ will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the church annex, 202 Irving Street, S.W. Please note this is a change from the usual third Saturday meeting because of the Easter holiday. Instruction will be given on a quilt block, and there will be a show-and-tell time. Anyone interested is invited to attend. Bring completed quilts or projects in progress and a snack to share.

DAG Easter Egg Hunt

Decatur Assembly of God will host its annual community "Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza" on Saturday, April 19. Inflatables and fun will begin at 1 p.m. Thousands of eggs will fall from the sky during our helicopter drop. The hunt will begin at 2 p.m. There will be five hunting areas for children ages 0-12. Prizes, eggs and grand prizes will be awarded in each age division. A designated hunting area will be provided for children with special needs. The hunt will take place on the campus of DAG Church, at 674 N. Main, Decatur.

Falling Springs

Cemetery Cleanup

The Falling Springs Cemetery will hold its annual cleanup day on Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. Patrons of the cemetery are asked to bring tools and come help. A board meeting will follow the cleanup.

Daniel Cemetery

Cleanup

The Daniel Cemetery will have a cleanup day Saturday, April 26, beginning at 1 p.m. Persons interested in the upkeep of the cemetery are asked to bring weedeaters, rakes and other tools and come to help. The cemetery can be reached by taking Highway 72, then turning on North Mt. Pleasant Rd. and traveling for about a mile.

Gravette Farmers'

Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market opened for its seventh season on Saturday, April 12, just off Arkansas Highway 72, in Old Town Park. It will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. until November. The market will feature locally-grown produce, plants, creative and artistic craft items and wholesome baked goods. USDA WIC vouchers, Senior Nutrition Program vouchers, Double-the-Money senior coupons and tokens will be accepted. Gentry Farmers' Market

The 2014 Gentry Farmers' Market will be held at the Main Street Pavilion, 500 East Main Street, with Melissa Graef as the director. Those with produce may set up under the pavilion in the 11 by 14 foot space. The Pavilion, which will provide shelter from the rain and sun, is at the corner of Arkansas Highway 59 and Main Street. There will be a small fee for booth space. Those interested may talk to Melissa at the Chicken Coop Flea Market or call for details, 871-1052. Spring Fling

Gentry's annual Spring Fling will be held Thursday through Saturday, May 1 to 3. Anyone planning to have a spring garage sale, antique or collectibles sale, is urged to participate in the citywide event. Anyone who would like to set up a booth along Arkansas Highway 59 may call Bev Saunders to reserve a space, 736-2358.

'Old Timers Day' Booths

Applications are being accepted now from crafters and vendors who wish to reserve space at the annual "Old Timers Day" in Southwest City, Mo. Free booth space is available for the Saturday, May 3, event. Booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street in Southwest City. GED Prep Classes

Free GED prep classes and testing will be held at the Gravette Library through May 16. Classes are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the library, 407 Charlotte St., S.E., in Gravette. Classes are open enrollment. Students may start any time and finish when they are ready. Call 986-6911 or simply show up to enroll in class.

NWA Riding Club

Playdays

NWA Riding Club playdays began Saturday, April 5, at the Luca Don Equestrian Center, located 4 miles west of Gentry on Arkansas Highway 12. Sign-up time is 5:30 p.m., with activities beginning promptly at 6. Playday rodeo competitions will be held every other Saturday. Events include pole bending, flags, barrels and speed race. Updated information will be made available on the club's website, www.nwaridingclub.org.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men's fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

Church Singing

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.
