DECATUR -- It is always an honor to be recognized by your peers for your hard work and dedication to teach young children the wonders of the universe. One such teacher was recently honored for her dedication to the advancement of young minds.
Erin Rankin, a Kindergarten teacher at Northside Elementary in Decatur, was named teacher of the year. Rankin received news during a surprise ceremony at the school April 7.
The teacher of the year was voted upon by the faculty at Northside Elementary. Rankin received a majority of the vote.
"I feel very humbled, thankful, and very honored that they saw something in me and voted for me." Rankin stated
