School board interviews candidates

GRAVETTE -- In a special meeting Thursday evening, the Gravette School Board conducted interviews with two educators who have applied for the position as Upper Elementary School principal. One candidate is from out of state, the other from Arkansas. No action was taken during the executive session.

The UE principal position is to be filled to replace UE principal Jay Ensor, who submitted his resignation for the end of this school term.

Following a brief break, the board returned and the following business was conducted:

• Approved the first reading of Second Set of Board Policies. The First Set was approved at an earlier meeting. Final action is expected at the regular board meeting next Monday evening.

• No action was taken on additional staff recommendations.

• A field trip for the Quiz Bowl team to attend state competition was approved.

• Took no action on proposed stipends for individual positions; took no action on proposed classified staff salaries; took no action on the 2014-15 proposed salary schedule. These items were all referred to the Personnel Policy Committee.

All members of the board were present except Jay Oliphant and Susan Santos.
