Two die in Saturday wreck near Gentry

BENTON COUNTY -- Two 19-year-old men died in a one-vehicle accident near Gentry on Saturday, Gentry Fire Chief Vester Cripps said Sunday.

Zachary Long and Shawn Hurt, both of the Gentry area, died about 7:15 p.m. Saturday when the Hyundai Santa Fe they were traveling in down Old Springtown Road east of Gentry left the roadway and turned over, ejecting both the men. They died at the scene, Cripps said.

There were no witnesses to the accident, Cripps said. Someone from a nearby residence heard the wreck and called emergency workers, he said.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Old Springtown Road with Roy Jech Farm Road.

The accident continues to be under investigation, but alcohol and drugs are not considered factors, according to Keshia Guyll, spokeswoman for the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Speeding may have played a role in the accident, she said in a message Sunday.

Obituaries and funeral information are included on Page 2A.
