DECATUR -- It was a beautiful spring day in Decatur April 15, just right for baseball as the Bulldogs hosted the Elkins Elks at Edmiston Park in Decatur.

Coach Jason Porter's Bulldogs struggled on defense in the first game of a double header against the Elks. When Decatur came to bat in the first inning, they managed to load the bases with two outs but could not capitalize on this opportunity as the last batter struck out leaving three on.

Porter's Bulldogs managed to get on base several times but could not bring anyone home. They lost the first game to Elkins 10 to 0.

The next game was a little better. Decatur managed to bring five runners home. However, they could not hold Elkins at bay as they allowed eight runs to score. The final in the second game was 8 to 5 Elkins.

The Decatur Bulldogs travel south April 18 to take on the Hartford Hustlers in a five-inning double header.

For the first time this season the Bulldogs made a complete turnaround, playing like a team on both batting and fielding. They took both games from Hartford 12 to 2 in the first game and 14 to 6 in the second.

The Bulldogs are currently 2 and 18 overall.

The Decatur Bulldog baseball team wraps up their season with a trip south to Fort Smith to take on the Union Christian Academy Eagles.
