Gravette's spring cleanup is set for May 5 through 9

GRAVETTE -- Gravette's citywide spring cleanup will be held the week of May 5-9, according to an announcement from City Hall. This annual event provides citizens a way to dispose of bulky items, at no charge. Such items will be picked up at curbside by Deffenbaugh, which contracts for the city's weekly garbage pickup.

Curbside pickup for bulky items will be on regular pickup days (Tuesday for this portion of Gravette and Thursday for the Hiwasse area).

The announcement is being released early so citizens will be able to mark their calendars now and make advance plans for disposal of such bulky items.

The city emphasizes there will be no charge. However there are certain restrictions on the type of items eligible, including electronic devices such as TVs and computers. The Benton County Solid Waste district will locate a trailer in Gravette May 2-9 as a drop-off point where electronic items may be taken for disposal at no charge.

Tires and items deemed hazardous cannot be disposed of in this way. For information and a list of such items, contact the BCSW, 795-0751.
