GRAVETTE -- Darla (Kerr) Tomasko celebrated a "big" birthday with a surprise party given by her mother, Karen Kerr, on April 12.
She was especially surprised by the attendance of her "Dutch sisters," Caroline Visser and Marijke von den Bosch, with whom she lived when a foreign exchange student in Holland 34 years ago.
Family members and friends gathered for the special event at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center in Gravette to help Darla celebrate and exchange past memories.
"My whole life is standing in front of me," Darla said, "and I am blessed by so many family (members) and friends."
Guests at the party were asked to bring gifts of toys to be donated to the Arkansas Children's Hospital in honor of Lexie Faith Rawls, granddaughter of Nancy Scantlin.
