Fire department celebrates 100th

GENTRY -- Gentry Fire Department will observe its 100th year of service celebration on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire station on Third Street.

"We will have an open house all day and will have a smoke safety trailer set up for the kids," said Gentry fire chief, Vester Cripps.

"We will be talking to everyone about fire safety," Cripps added. "We will also be taking pictures with the kids on and around the fire trucks."

Representatives from Congressman Womack's office, Benton County Judge Robert Clinard and Mayor Johnston will be speaking at the event, with the speeches beginning at 10 a.m.

Gentry Fire Department was established on May 5, 1913, by ordinance No. 45 of the Gentry City Council.
