Back-to-school events set for Gravette schools

GRAVETTE -- Students who are growing tired of summer vacation and are looking forward to returning to the classroom won't have long to wait. The first day of the 2014-2015 school year at Gravette Public Schools is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18.

With the approach of the new school year so near, announcement has been made of a few activities preceding the first day of classes.

Orientation for new teachers will be held all day Friday, Aug. 8. Professional development days for teachers are Monday, Aug. 11, and all day Friday, Aug. 15.

"Meet the Teacher" nights will be held the week before classes begin. They are scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Gravette Middle School; from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Glenn Duffy Elementary; from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Gravette High School; and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Gravette Upper Elementary.

Scheduling was staggered for these events so that parents with students in more than one school can attend all events.
