Car show gets rained out

GRAVETTE -- Thirty-eight vehicles were entered in the Gravette Day car show. Chris and Tina Crose, coordinators of the annual show, reported that all entries received first place trophies since a rainstorm blew up right in the middle of judging and they wanted to be fair to all entrants.

A few honors were awarded to individual entrants before the rain shut the judging down.

Northwest Arkansas Camaro Club won a $50 Arvest gift card for best club participation. Dennis Lewis of Bentonville won the kid's choice award for his 1954 Chevy Bel Air. Jay Smith of Gravette won a $100 gift certificate from BMS Auto for his 1976 Ford F250. Jeremy Rhodes, also of Gravette, won a $50 Arvest gift card for most unique vehicle with his 1951 Willys CJ3A military jeep. Jeremy was dressed in Army MP attire to add to the display.

Prizes were provided by sponsors Arvest Bank, H&H Classic Chevy Parts, Green Heart Realty, Shabby Chic Salon, Hardluck Cafe, BMS Auto, Cardinal Pawn and Insul-Bead.

Ben Drag Daddy came from Oklahoma and drew monster art with children, and El Roy Pinstriping (Roy Kirkendoll of Rogers) was on hand for pinstriping vehicles, purses, wallets and phones.
