Gentry bus drivers receive safety awards

GENTRY -- Full-time school bus drivers in Gentry received safety awards Aug. 12 at the school district's annual back-to-school staff breakfast.

Sherry Curry, who is a teacher at the Gentry Intermediate School campus, in association with the Fayetteville Woodmen of the World Insurance Lodge, presented Gentry bus drivers with certificates and lapel pins in honor of their years of service without a cited or an at-fault accident while students were on board the school bus.

The following drivers received awards: Gayle Murphy, 31 years; Janice Arnold, 25; Kelli Talvitie, 23; David Nelson, 18; Lisa King, 17; Pam Harrelson, 15; Sammie Cunningham, 11; Robert Savage, 8; Bobby Hogan, 7; Keith Sexson, 7; Patrick Shimer, 7; Blake West, 2; and Belinda Haslett, 2.

"We are very proud of our safety conscious school bus drivers," said Jason Barrett, transportation director for Gentry Public Schools.
