Decatur school board looking for replacement for Holly

DECATUR -- With the recent resignation of board vice-president Darleen Holly, the Decatur school board is looking for a replacement to fill her remaining term.

Holly resigned from the school board July 24 in order for her husband, Doug Holly, to accept the transportation and maintenance director's position for the Decatur School District which was vacated by Sherman Robinson last May.

According to state board of education rules, Doug Holly could not hold the position as long as his wife was on the school board.

Holly's school board term is set to expire in September of 2017. With the filing deadline for the November elections past, the board must appoint a representative of her zone to fill the remainder of her term.

Any Decatur resident living in Zone 4 can apply for this position. Applications can be obtained through the Decatur School District office located at 1498 Stadium Ave. The applications will be reviewed during the Sept. 15 school board meeting. For more information, contact Decatur school superintendent Jeff Gravette at 752-3986.
