Maysville E.H. Club News

An afternoon meeting of the Maysville EH Club was held at the Community Building, with nine members present. Katherine Tucker presided. We are glad to have our new heating and air system installed. It will it be a great benefit to everyone using the building. A good crowd attended the Thanksgiving dinner we hosted and since it was a rather cool evening, everyone enjoyed the central heat.

Melinda read a short story entitled "The Lesson in the Shell." The cultural art was given by Dianna Afuvai. She showed a pretty pin cushion she had made from a coffee mug. She also showed a photo file of her heirlooms which she made to document for items for insurance purposes and also inform future generations how they came to be family heirlooms.

The lesson on identity theft was given by Dianna. Important steps to help prevent identity theft are guard personal information and PINs, shred mail and documents, shop at reputable business whether in person or online, keep devices secure by making sure virus protection is up to date, use strong passwords and make sure you log out of accounts, limit the amount of credit cards you carry to one or two, monitor accounts and statements, and get a free credit report every year.

Our Christmas party will be Dec. 11 at the community building. Everyone is to bring a $10 gift for exchange.
