GRAVETTE -- With renovations under way in a Main Street corner building which once housed a restaurant and then a church, Dynamic Rhythm, a dance studio, plans to have an open house at its new Gravette location, 202 Main Street S.E., from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21.

Dance classes, for ages 3 through adult, are set to begin Jan. 5 and will be taught on a school-year type schedule, according to Jodi Moore, owner and instructor at the new Main Street studio.

The dance studio may be new to Gravette but it's not new to Moore, who has been a dance instructor for 20 years and has operated studios in central and northeast Arkansas, most recently in Walnut Ridge, near Jonesboro. Moore teaches a wide variety of dancing, including clogging, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and ballet. She teaches competitive dance and recreational.

And not only has Moore won awards, but her classes and students have won numerous awards and have been invited to perform as opening acts at shows on the strip in Branson, Mo. She and her students hold local, regional and national titles; and Moore has judged national competitions.

Moore said she started dancing at a very young age, which helps to explain how she could have been a dance instructor for 20 years.

"I've danced all my life," Moore said.

Moore moved to Bella Vista in 2013 as a result of her husband Shane's job with Walmart. She has two children, Keeli and Cameron, in Gravette Public Schools. Recently, she has worked with Janet Moreno, music instructor for Gravette elementary school, to choreograph parts for school plays. She also has served as a substitute teacher in the schools.

Moore said she looks forward to working with the community and hopes her dance classes can contribute to the area by having students demonstrate their art in local events and festivals.

For more information on the studio, Moore can be contacted by email at [email protected] or by phone at 870-761-5069. Dynamic Rhythm Dance Studio also has its own Facebook page at facebook.com/DynamicRhythmDance.
