Troy Burnett

Troy Alvin Burnett, 81, died Nov. 17, 2014, in Tulsa, Okla.

He was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Witter, to Floyd and Ethel Burnett. He attended school in Gravette. He served in the U.S. Army in Mannheim, Germany, from December of 1953 through 1955. He moved to Tulsa in 1956, where he was employed by Moss Seat Covers, Sears, Vulcan Tank and Energy Exchanger Company, where he worked for 17 years before retiring in 1996. He married Nelda Majors Sept. 8, 1979. They moved to Grove, Okla., after his retirement, where he enjoyed fishing and boating. They returned to Tulsa in 2001 and moved to Bixby in 2003. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, where he was a member of the Seekers Community.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Calvin, Virgil and Jimmie.

He is survived by his wife, Nelda Joy Burnett of the home; son Mike and wife Kellie of Tulsa; daughter Brenda Williams and son Brian of Marietta, Ga.; stepsons David Majors and wife Robin of Valencia, Calif., and Steven Majors and wife Sheryl of Broken Arrow, Okla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Pauline Whitmore of Huntsville, Mary Sawyer of Gravette, and Sue Peters and husband Marvin of Gravette.

Funeral service was Nov. 21 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with arrangements by Floral Haven Funeral Home.

Margery Elaine Kuhn

Margery Elaine Kuhn, 78, of Fayetteville, N.C., passed away at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

She was born in Kingsley, IA, on January 11, 1936, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tony and Lola Carter, Sr.

She was a licensed real estate agent/broker and real estate appraiser. She loved her family, her dogs, politics, Facebook on her iPad, and Fox News.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Kuhn; son, Paul Thompson; sisters, Veda Monk, Bertha Smith; brothers, Arvin Carter, Donald Carter, and Tony Carter, Jr.; and son-in-law, Don Wyndham.

Mrs. Kuhn is survived by daughters, Deanna Wyndham of Fair Oaks, CA, DeLaine Brannen and husband, Bill of Flagstaff, AZ, Lugina Ramos and husband Michael of Fayetteville, N.C.; sons, Tommy Thompson of Junction City, KS, Lewis Thompson and wife, Jeri of St. George, KS; sisters, Verna Falk of Decatur, AR, Sharon Crowder of Salina, KS, Shirley Zentz of Lees Summit, MO; brothers, Milo Carter of Decatur, AR, Lester Carter of Roxbury, KS, numerous nieces and nephews; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margery's wishes were to be cremated. Family and friends will be invited to a memorial service honoring her life on a date to be determined.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to humanesociety.org, heart.org, lung.org, or stjude.org.

Services are entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory, Fayetteville, N.C.

Doris McBride

Doris Alene McBride, 87, formerly of Gravette, died Dec. 9, 2014, in Springdale after a long illness.

She was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Farmington, to Elma Herbert Daniel and Beulah Effie (Starnes) Daniel. She was a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church in Gravette and especially enjoyed participating in the women's ministry programs. She worked all her life to support her family. After retiring, she enjoyed playing cards with the other retirees at the Billy V. Hall Senior Center in Gravette. She also volunteered countless hours as a labor of love to make baby caps for the newborn babies at Northwest Medical Center Hospital and Mercy Hospital. She moved to Lowell a few years ago to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil T. McBride; her parents; and two brothers, Eulus "Gene" Daniel and Dean Daniel.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Taylor and husband Jackie, of Branson, Mo. and Florida; 10 children, Dorothy Coffey and husband Don of Abilene, Texas, Gene Gooding of Apache Junction, Ariz., Thanna Cline and husband Don of Jones, Okla., Judy Amos of Seminole, Okla., Barbara Orten and husband Lonnie of Gravette and Arizona, Marie Edwards and husband John, of Van Buren, Teresa Zimmerman and husband Charles, of Bentonville, Terri Shields and husband Bill of Lowell, Jim Petty and wife Sandra of Gravette, Ted Petty and wife Rhonda of Bentonville; two stepchildren who adopted Doris when she and their father married, David McBride and wife Jerri of Hope, Kan., and Elaine Collins and husband Larry of Skiatook, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Dec. 13 at First Assembly of God, with Jack Deaton officiating. Burial followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, east of Gravette. Arrangements were by Westfield Chapel Funeral Home, Springdale.

William 'Bill' Thomason

William "Bill" Albert Thomason, 87, of Gravette, died Dec. 12, 2014, at Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale.

He was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Maysville, to Barney Newton Thomason and Susie Minerva Wardlaw Thomason. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, and was an Artilleryman in Battery C, 99th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He thoroughly researched and studied family genealogy and, along with Frances, visited Scotland, the birthplace of the Thomason family. He was a master gardener and had a passion for fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Thomason of Gravette; two sons, Alan Thomason and wife Monica and Larry Thomason and wife Tanya of the Maysville area; and five grandchildren.

Funeral was Dec. 15 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, Bella Vista. Burial was at the family cemetery in Brightwater. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, Bella Vista.
