Police arrest pair at hair salon with drugs and shotgun

GENTRY-- Police arrested Bobby Wilmoth, 60, of Gravette, and Sarah Durling, 29, of Siloam Springs, after receiving two calls of a suspicious man and woman at a hair salon on Gentry Blvd., on Dec. 10.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Gentry police received calls just after noon from a neighboring business saying that a woman who appeared to be intoxicated entered Salon Revelations, "mumbling words that didn't make any sense," while the man drove a vehicle around to the back of the building and waited. When the woman came out of the business, they both left, according to the affidavit.

When the duo returned at about 4 p.m., police were notified again and arrived to find Wilmoth had parked a black Chevy Suburban behind the business by the back door and was outside his vehicle walking his dog, according to the affidavit. When Durling later came out of the business and back to the vehicle, she appeared very intoxicated, according to the affidavit.

After police identified Durling, they learned she was wanted on a warrant out of Springdale and placed her under arrest.

After receiving consent to search the vehicle from Wilmoth, he told them there was a shotgun in the vehicle behind the driver's seat. Police recovered the shotgun, along with approximately 80 rounds of ammunition, according to the affidavit. They also found a bottle of pills with Durling's name on it with a number of Schedule II and Schedule IV drugs for which Durling did not have a prescription. Another Schedule II pill fell from a cigarette package she removed from her bra, the affidavit stated.

Wilmoth was placed under arrest in connection with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm (a Class B felony), according to the affidavit. Durling, according to the affidavit, was arrested on the Springdale warrant and also in connection with being in possession of controlled substances (Class C and D felonies and a Class A misdemeanor), public intoxication (Class C misdemeanor) and obstructing governmental operations (Class A misdemeanor).

Police were unable to verify the couple's intentions at the Gentry business.

Other Arrests

In the early morning hours of of Dec. 12, police arrested Shoua Thao, 24, of Gentry in connection with allegedly driving while intoxicated.

According to police reports, Thao, driving a 2014 Subaru, hit a curb when turning onto Railroad Avenue from Arkansas Highway 59. When police stopped Thao, they saw that a tire on the vehicle was flat and saw what appeared to be vomit on the seat, as well as other signs of possible intoxication, according to police reports.

After failing to satisfactorily complete a series of field sobriety tests, Thao was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to the Benton County Jail. He was administered a breath test for blood alcohol content which returned a .110, according to reports. The legal limit is .08 in Arkansas.

Police also arrested Wilhelmina Peterson, 44, of Gentry, in connection with driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a blood alcohol test on Dec. 5.

According to reports, Peterson was observed driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla into oncoming traffic and then up onto a curb. When police approached Peterson's car, which she had parked in a liquor star parking lot, Peterson had bloodshot and watery eyes and the odor of alcohol on her breath, reports state. After failing to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests, Peterson was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to the Benton County Jail.

At the jail, reports state, Peterson initially refused to take a breath test for blood alcohol content. When she consented, she did not complete the test and provide a sufficient sample, reports state.

On Dec. 14, police arrested Nathan E. Gulden, 21, resident of the Gentry Motel, for allegedly slapping and hitting his girlfriend during a verbal dispute which turned physical. According to police, the dispute arose when his girlfriend confronted Gulden for allegedly viewing pornography.

Gulden was being held Monday in connection with domestic battery in the third degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
