Man arrested in domestic incident

GENTRY -- Police arrested a Lowell man on Feb. 9, charging him with false imprisonment (a Class C felony) and domestic battery in the third degree (a Class A misdemeanor).

According to police reports, Delfino Escobar-Lopez, 40, was arrested following a late-night incident on Feb. 8, in which he allegedly grabbed his estranged wife from her brother's residence on Red Oak Street in Gentry and forced her into his vehicle and left at a high rate of speed.

The female victim, according to reports, attempted to get out of the moving vehicle. When Escobar-Lopez stopped at Third Street, he allegedly hit his estanged wife in the face, hurt her arm and took her cell phone away from her. When his estranged wife escaped with her phone and ran down Pioneer Lane, calling for help, Escobar-Lopez allegedly attempted to catch up to her and get her back in his vehicle.

According to reports, Escobar-Lopez, left when his estranged wife called 911 but returned to her brother's residence to tell him his estranged wife was walking.

Police spoke with Escobar-Lopez by phone, according to reports, and arrested him when he came to the Gentry Police Station.

He was being held in Benton County Jail on Monday, with no bond set.
