Joanne 'Jody' Duncan

Joanne "Jody" Duncan, 72, died Jan. 11, 2014, in Elk City, Okla.

She was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Sayre, Okla., to Cleo Pauline and Orville Anderson Shockey. She grew up in Gentry and graduated from Gentry High School in 1959. She married Ross Vernon Duncan. They moved to Elk City in 1963. She worked for Southwestern Bell, Brewers Answering Service, Great Plains Regional Medical Center and was a nurse for home health care before retiring in 2000. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, riding and caring for horses.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Polly Duncan.

She is survived by a daughter, Becky Scott and husband Tom of Elk City; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dave Shockey and wife Dorothy of Nenana, Alaska, and Ben Shockey and wife Beverly of Watts, Okla.

Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 16, at Whinery-Savage Chapel in Elk City, with Jeff Pryor officiating. Burial was at New Hermon Cemetery in Leedey, Okla.

Whinery Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Michael Musteen

Michael Wayne Musteen, 57, died Jan. 31, 2014, in Bentonville, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Rogers on April 23, 1956, to Joe and Anita Kooker Musteen.

He served three years in the U.S. Army, in Germany. He later lived in both Velburg, Germany, and Vicenza, Italy, for several years. Love of travel and history enriched his life. His bachelor of science degree was computer information systems, and his career spanned a wide segment of technology solutions. He lived and worked most recently in Shawnee, Kan., where he had joined a specialty medical equipment company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by three siblings; his wife Gerlie; and son Matthew; sister Jennie Hill and her husband Jack of Gentry; brother Barry Musteen and his wife Sunny of Centerton; and sister Rebecca Johnson of Dallas, Texas.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Rogers cemetery. Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home, Rogers.

Audrey Gail Noelle Taylor

Audrey Gail Noelle Taylor, infant, of Siloam Springs, died Feb. 9, 2014.

She was born Feb. 4, 2014, to Canda Nicole Cottrill and Caleb Wesley Taylor.

She is survived by her parents; a brother, Wesley Cade Lee Taylor; maternal grandparents, Cynda G. Cottrill and Scott L. Cottrill; and paternal grandparents, Kathie L. Taylor and William J. Taylor.

Memorial wake will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14, at the Community Building in Siloam Springs.

E. Elaine 'ET' Thurman

Elizabeth Elaine Thurman, "ET," 58, of Colcord, Okla., died Feb. 6, 2014, at her home.

She was born May 7, 1955, in Claremore, Okla., to Melvin Edward Watkins and Jennie Mae Bolin Watkins. She worked at Gates Rubber for almost 20 years. She married Gerald Clifford Thurman in Benton County on Feb. 25, 1980. She was a member of Solid Rock Church, West Siloam Springs, Okla.

Survivors include her husband Gerald of the home; two daughters, Melanie Watkins and fiancé Jimmy Stacks of Kansas, Okla., and Anna Yard and husband Scott of Centerton; two sons, Gerald Thurman, Jr., "Tiny" and wife Briana of Chewey, Okla., and Jared "Crash" Thurman and wife Caroline of Westville, Okla.; seven grandchildren; brothers Tim Watkins of Jay, Okla., and Danny Watkins of Twin Oaks, Okla.; sisters Sue Kirk of Kansas, Okla., and Jennie Sue Watkins of Twin Oaks.

Funeral services were Feb. 10 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Steve Osage officiating. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery, near Moseley, Okla. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
