GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers fell in their final game of season play on their home court in a heartbreaking loss to the Lady Bobcats of Berryville.

It looked as if the Gentry girls were on the road to a season finale win, up 14-10, at the end of the first period and 23-18 at the half. But the Lady Bobcats came out of the locker room determined to turn things around in the second half of their game, and they did, closing the gap to 3 points at the third buzzer and outscoring the Lady Pioneers by three in the fourth quarter and pushing the game into overtime, with the teams tied at 39 apiece.

And that final period went back and forth. Gentry was first on the board with a 2-pointer by Karoline Page; and when Berryville tied it back up at 41, Page put in two free throws to put Gentry back on top. Berryville closed the gap, making one of two free throws, and then took back the lead with a 2-pointer. Mallory Morris tied things up again on the free-throw line for Gentry, but a missed second shot and a Berryville rebound followed by a 3-point shot with only a second or two left to go took the win away from the Lady Pioneers. The final was 47-44, Berryville.

Page and Haley Borgeteien-James led the Lady Pioneers in scoring with 13 points each. Morris had 8, and Jordan Olds 6. Kristen Flesner had 4. Morris made all of her points at the free-throw line.

Berryville grabbed the lead in the opening period, putting in 8 points to 2 for Gentry. The second period was a wash, with both teams adding only 3 points. Berryville increased its lead by 5 in the third and fourth periods to seal the victory.
