David Craig, Sr.

David Eugene Craig, Sr., 63, died Feb. 10, 2014, at Anderson, Mo. He was born May 20, 1950, at Noel, Mo.

Memorial services will be held Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. A short graveside service will follow at Lee Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson, Mo.

Orren Evans

Orren William Evans, 89, of Siloam Springs, died Feb. 10, 2014, one day short of his 90th birthday, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Morris, Okla., the sixth of 12 children born to James William Evans and LaVinnia Mae Wiles Evans.

His family moved to Gentry in 1936. He enlisted in the Navy his sophomore year of high school, February of 1941. He served his country 21 years before he retired. After his retirement from Naval service, he worked at the University of Arkansas and Simmons Industries, then John Brown University, before retiring there in 1986.

On June 16, 1945, he married Barbara Lee Trammell. He was a member of the Gentry Masonic Lodge, F&AM No. 222, the American Legion and the VFW. He attended the Gum Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Karen Dodd; and eight sisters.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; son Ronald William Evans and wife Wanda Rosalee of Siloam Springs; daughters Sylvia Evans and Wanda Lee Evans of Siloam Springs; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Clarence Evans of Tulsa, Okla., Robert Evans of California and Ronald Eugene Evans of Gentry; and son-in-law Joy K. Dodd of Murphy, Neb.

Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Gordon Topping officiating. Burial followed at Gentry Cemetery, Gentry.

Rita Herrington

Rita Mae Herrington, 79, of Decatur, died Feb. 13, 2014, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

She was born May 24, 1934, in Maysville, to Martin Luther Anderson and Mae Wilhelm Anderson. She lived most of her life in the Decatur area. She retired from First Brands as a quality auditor. She was a member of the West Point Study Club. She attended Decatur Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Herrington of Grove, Okla., and Pete Herrington, of Rogers; two daughters, Linda Herrington of Decatur, and Kay Miller of Bella Vista; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Feb. 17 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Mark Rotrammel officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Falling Springs Cemetery, near Decatur.

Curtis Hipp

Curtis Barry Hipp, 54, of Gentry, died Feb. 10, 2014, at his sister's residence. He was born March 5, 1959, in Illinois.

He was a local artist, and local coffee drinker. He worked at Cargill, Peterson, and Simmons for many years, also he worked at several local restaurants throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Hipp.

Survivors include two brothers, Jay Hipp and his wife Maria, of New Mexico, John Hipp and his wife Helen, of Gentry; two sisters, Linda Shoup and Evelyn Proffitt, both of Gentry, and his father, JW Hipp, of Gentry.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date by the family.

Arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home, Bentonville.

Harlan Montag

Harlan Joseph Montag, 79, of Gravette, died Feb. 9, 2014, at Jamestown Nursing & Rehab.

He was born August 26, 1934, in Westport, Wis., to Arthur and Celia Kurshung Montag. He was a WWII veteran stationed in Germany. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown. He worked for Welch's for 20 years and later at Allen Canning for more than 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eda Lou Montag.

He is survived by three sons, Harold Montag and Tom Montag, both of Tulsa, Okla., and Andrew Montag of Brighton, Mich.; one brother, Merlin Montag of Broken Arrow, Okla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Feb. 14 at National Cemetery in Fayetteville with Greg Hart officiating.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Arnold Murray

Arnold B. Murray was born April 20, 1929, in Waurika, Okla., to Edgar Dude Murray and Casey Brown Murray. He died on Feb. 12, 2014.

Murray served in the United States Marine Corps as a combat Marine serving in Korea, making the Incheon landing and surviving the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. He enjoyed working with machinery on his farm. He was an instrument-rated airplane pilot and enjoyed flying. As pastor of the Shepherd's Chapel Church, located in Gravette, he built the largest independent Christian television network in the world. He also served as president of the Shepherd's Chapel Network.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Anna Murray; and his son, David Vernon Murray.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Arnold Murray and wife Marion, of Gravette; sister-in-law Martha Sweeter, of Gravette; his granddaughter, Jessica Murray Pike and her husband, Luther Pike, of Hiwasse; and one sister, Fayezel Jackson of Houston, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory. The date of a memorial service will be announced in a Shepherd's Chapel Church monthly newsletter at a later date.

Nick Odle

Nick Odle, 77, of Gentry, died Feb. 15, 2014, at his home.

He was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Westville, Okla., to Dewey Odle and Ethel McCoy Odle. He married Peggy Guthrie on July 23, 1955, in Gentry. He worked as a route supervisor for Junge Baking for 20 years. He also worked for Jones Trucking for 10 years and Simmons Foods for 6 years. He was a Shriner and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gentry, where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gentry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Ghormley; and one brother, Bobby Jack Odle.

Survivors include his wife Peggy; one daughter, Terry Jackson of Gentry; one granddaughter, Holly Hill of Gentry; two brothers, Buddy Odle of Jay, Okla., and Kenny Odle and wife Linda of Siloam Springs.

Memorial services were Feb. 18 at the United Methodist Church, Gentry, with George Atkins officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Thomas Jerry Putman

Thomas Jerry Putman, 80, of Little Flock, died Friday, Feb. 14, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville.

He was born December 4, 1933, in Bentonville to Albert Putman and Lela Hileman Putman of Pea Ridge. He graduated from Gravette High School in 1951 and married Marie Wiggin of Gravette on June 26, 1952. He loved to hunt and travel. He was instrumental in incorporating Little Flock in 1970 and served as Little Flock's first marshal for 10 years. He retired from Rogers Tool Works, formerly Wendt Sonis, in 1996. He was a member of the Pea Ridge Historical Society, Gravette United Methodist Church and attended Grace Baptist Church in Rogers.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joe, Rex, Bobby and Fay.

He is survived by his wife Marie Putman of the home; two sons, Dan Putman of Little Flock and Bill Putman and wife Franziska Marchant of Smyrna, Ga.; a daughter, Teresa Hufford and husband Gary of Little Flock; two grandchildren; and a brother, Vance Putman of California.

Funeral service was Feb. 17 at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with Randy Parks officiating. Burial was in Pea Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
