GRAVETTE -- A drug collection unit is now available for the convenience of Gravette and area residents to dispose of unwanted or outdated prescription drugs.

It is available to the public 24/7 and is already being used by the public.

The unit is anchored to a recently poured cement base, is under 24-hour video surveillance and is serviced daily.

Instructions for disposing of the items eligible for collection are printed on the unit. Items include prescription medicines, over the counter medications, prescription patches, vitamins, medicine samples, prescription creams and even medications for pets.

Not accepted are needles, inhalers, aerosol cans, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, ointments and liquids, and medications from businesses or clinics.

Proper disposal of medications helps keep them away from children and out of water supplies.
