Gravette plans citywide cleanup

GRAVETTE -- A citywide cleanup will be held the week of May 5-9, according to an announcement from Gravette City Hall. This annual event provides citizens a way to dispose of bulky items, at no charge. Such items will be picked up at curbside by Deffenbaugh, which contracts for the city's weekly garbage pickup.

In releasing the announcement this far in advance, citizens will be able to mark their calendars now, as well as make plans for disposal of such bulky items.

The city emphasizes there will be no charge. However, there are certain restrictions on the type of items eligible, such as electronics, TVs and computers.

Tires and items deemed hazardous cannot be disposed of in this way. For information or for a list of such items, contact the Benton County Solid Waste District, 795-0751.

The BCSW district will locate a trailer in Gravette May 2-9 as a drop-off point where electronic items may be taken for disposal at no charge.
