David E. Craig, Sr.

David E. Craig, Sr., 63, of Anderson, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at his home.

He was born at Noel, Mo., on May 20, 1950, and raised on the family farm north of the Beaty Community, northwest of Gravette. He went to school at Gravette, where he graduated in 1968. He went on to study diesel mechanics at the Petit Jean Vo Tech School in Morrilton and worked in local tractor dealerships and then became a self-employed diesel mechanic for more than 40 years until his recent retirement in 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter (Paul) Craig and Deloris Craig.

He is survived by his two brothers, Dwayne E. Craig and Tim Craig of Gravette; two sisters, Sandra (Paulette) Choate of Harrison and Patricia (Patty) Pianalto of Springdale; four sons, David E. Craig, Jr., and Travis E. Craig, both of Gravette, Steve Demoss of Bella Vista and Roger Demoss of Nashville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services were Feb. 25 at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs; a short graveside service followed at Lee Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo.

E. Deane Farnsworth

E. Deane Farnsworth, 68, of Rogers, died Feb. 20, 2014, in Rogers.

He was born Jan. 29, 1946, in San Jose, Calif., to Erving Elroy Farnsworth and Martha Jane Russell Farnsworth. He served as a sergeant and sharpshooter in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked for Walmart in the jewelry warehouse, distribution and security before retiring with over 30 years of service to the company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Grant Coonrod, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cindy Ann Farnsworth; two sons, Rick Vandiver and wife Tina of Pineville, Mo., and Adam Vandiver and wife Toia of Rogers; two daughters, Christy Vandiver of Bentonville and Vicki Taylor and husband Heath of Bentonville; two brothers, Patrick Farnsworth and wife Monica of San Jose, Calif., and Dan Farnsworth and wife Cyndy of Twin Falls, Idaho; one sister, Donna Coonrod and husband Grant of Highfill; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Fayetteville National Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are by Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.

Robert C. 'Bob' Rider

Retired CMSgt. Robert C. "Bob" Rider, of Melbourne, Fla., died Jan. 20, 2014, at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla.

He was born May 8, 1929, to John and Annie Rider in Derry, N.H. He spent 22 years in the United States Air Force during WWII, Vietnam and Korea. He served as Chief Air Mechanic with the 509th Field Maintenance Squadron (SAC) in Africa, France, England and Guam. He moved his family to Hiwasse in 1969 and managed two auto parts stores. In 1974 he retired to Melbourne, Fla., where he managed the Twin Towers Condo in Cocoa Beach. He and his wife loved playing golf, traveling and being with the grand- and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 46 years; his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Clarence Fletcher of Hiwasse; son Douglas Rider of North Hollywood, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Anita Rider of Branson, Mo., son and daughter-in-law Alan and Stephanie Rider of Cocoa, Fla., daughter and son-in-law Linda and Eric Dahlgren of Melbourne, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Evelyn McCarthy.

A memorial service, with full military honors, was held Feb. 8, at the Eau Gallie First Baptist Church in Melbourne, with Tim Harden officiating.
