Gentry racks up DWI arrests

GENTRY -- Police in Gentry released reports of a number of driving while intoxicated arrests made over the past month.

Gentry officer Charles Brockmeyer was instrumental in each of these DWI arrests

On Dec. 19, Eduardo Lopez, 37, was arrested following a traffic stop in which he was accused of driving left of center. His alleged claim that the moving about of a large dog which was laying across the lap of him and his two passengers didn't help him when he failed field sobriety tests and tested 0.104 percent on a blood alcohol test given by Breathalyzer.

On Dec. 6, police arrested Benito Laguna-Vazquez, of Mexico, after he allegedly drove his vehicle into the ditch near the Dollar General Store in Gentry.

According to police reports, Laguna-Vazquez admitted to driving the vehicle into the ditch. Reports state he failed field sobriety tests.

His passenger, Ruben Laguna-Vazquez was also placed under arrest for allegedly being intoxicated in public. Both were transported to the Benton County Jail.

On Dec. 1, Ivan Arenaus, 26, was arrested after being stopped for not having working brake lights on his pickup truck. The odor of intoxicants and a failed field sobriety test led to his arrest. His blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.103 percent, according to reports. He was also charged with not having a valid driver's license and not having working brake lights.

On Nov. 29, Angela Pierce, 26, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop for speeding. Again, the alleged odor of intoxicants and failure to pass field sobriety tests led to her arrest. Her blood alcohol test results were 0.189 percent, according to police reports.
