BENTONVILLE -- A Hiwasse man was arrested Jan. 8 on suspicion of raping a 7-year-old girl.

Nathan Alan Wiese, 31, was being held in the Benton County Jail with a $25,000 bond set Friday. Wiese was arrested in connection with two counts of rape, a Class Y felony.

Bentonville police began an investigation after the girl talked to her mother about Wiese, according to court documents.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County where she gave details of being abused by Wiese, according to court documents. The girl said the abuse began when she was 5 or 6 years old, according to court documents.

Kris Moffit, a detective with the Bentonville Police Department, interviewed Wiese, according to the affidavit of probable cause. Wiese denied the allegations, but later admitted to inappropriately touching the girl on two occasions, according to court documents. The first time was last summer. The second time was Tuesday, according to the affidavit.

His arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Feb. 18 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
