Wilbert Barbian

Wilbert Louis Barbian, 83, died Jan. 9, 2014, at the Northwest Medical Center of Springdale.

He was born on June 3, 1930, in Kress, Texas, to Louis Tony Barbian and Louise Magdalena (Berner) Barbian. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the city of Springdale he was a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Rogers for eight years and was a member of Downtown Church of Christ in Rogers.

Wilbert is survived by one son, Louis W. Barbian of Gentry; one daughter, Joyce Barbian Bohannan and husband Randy of Springdale; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, James T. Barbian of Amarillo, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Mildred "Millie" Barbian.

Graveside service was held Jan. 13 at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Springdale, with Warren King officiating.

Marion Brankel

Marion Earl Brankel, 87, of Maysville, died Jan. 7, 2014, at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Gateby, Texas, to Earl Marion Brankel and Ethel Highfill Brankel. He married Rosa Guthmiller on Nov. 22, 1947, in Shattuck, Okla. He worked as a USDA Inspector and was a Navy Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa; and one son, Gary Lynn Brankel of Maysville.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Retha 'Nadean' Hardcastle

Retha "Nadean" Ownbey Hardcastle, 89, of Springdale, died Jan. 11, 2014, at The Maples.

She was born Feb. 11, 1924, near Decatur, to Elzy Lawrence and Lida Lanissa Wilmoth Ownbey. She was a member of Cross Church in Springdale. She was a graduate of Decatur High School in 1941 and attended the University of Arkansas. She taught at Decatur Public School for 2 1/2 years. In 1945, she married Achel Hardcastle, Jr. She was a beautician for more than 50 years and also was a sales associate at Dillard's Department Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Alan Franklin Hardcastle; her two brothers, Lloyd Ownbey, Orla Ownbey; and five sisters, Thelma Wilmoth, Lucille Ownbey, Nedra Primrose, Loretta Higgins and Wanda Cameron.

She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Jean Rosborough and husband Fred of Gentry, Janice Lynn Zulpo and husband Joe, Debra Kay "Debbie" Zulpo and husband Adolph, both of Springdale; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Ownbey of Gentry; and two sisters, Faye Higgins of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Marilyn Cameron of Dana Point, Calif.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Cross Church Chapel in Springdale, with Charlie Foster and Keith Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.

Jeanne Jensen

Linda Jeanne (Setser) Jensen, 67, of Gentry, died at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale on Dec. 13, 2013.

She was born in Neosho, Mo., on Aug. 13, 1946, to Opal and Orba Setser. She moved with her parents to Decatur in 1957. She was a graduate of Decatur High School in 1964, and the University of Arkansas in 1968. She married Jim Jensen of Gentry in 1972. For many years they worked together managing Jim's Auto Service and Sales.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Mark of Valdosta, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Kelly Dale; and grandson, Milo Dale of Seattle, Wash.; mother, Opal Moomey of Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Patsy Setser of Tulsa, Okla.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the United Methodist Church of Gentry. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
