Gentry teams fall at Farmington

n Lady Pioneers lose in final period.

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers were held scoreless in the final period of Friday's game at Farmington and lost the game to the Lady Cards, 53-44.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment in the loss was how well the Lady Pioneers played and held their own throughout the first three periods of the game. The score was 14 apiece at the end of the first, 29-28 at the half, and 45-44 at the end of three; but Gentry was held scoreless in the final period, with H. Maxwell and T. Scales each picking up two two-pointers for Farmington.

Haley Borgeteien-James was again high scorer for Gentry, putting in 15. Mallory Morris had 10, Kristen Flesner 7, Jordan Olds 6, Karoline Page 5, and Aspen Cripps 1. Olds and Morris each put in two 3-pointers in the game. Borgeteien-James made 5 of her points at the free-throw line, and Cripps her 1.

The Pioneers couldn't keep up against the Cardinals on Friday. Though they finished the first period down by only one, the Cards built on that lead throughout the game to take the game by 14 points, 49-35, in play at Farmington.

Scoring for Gentry were Brent Barker with 16, Matt Jullierat with 7, Wally Dane with 5, Jon Brown with 4, and Dusty Haag with 3 points in the game.
