Idabell Chamberlain

Idabell Chamberlain, 81, lifelong resident of Colcord, Okla., died Jan. 22, 2014, at her home.

She was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Delaware County, Okla., to John G. Cherry and Sadie Marie Beck Cherry. She was a graduate of Colcord High School. She married Leo Dennis Chamberlain in Tulsa, Okla., on May 28, 1954. She was a member of Countryside Bible Church.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Ola Mae Cherry and Velva Kinion; and one grandson, Dustin Chamberlain.

Survivors include her husband, Leo of the home; sons, Dennis Ray Chamberlain and wife Judy of Colcord, Dave Olen Chamberlain and wife Diane of West Maysville, Okla., and Don Lee Chamberlain and wife Deondra of Siloam Springs; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Elzie Cherry of Colcord, Alvin Cherry of Claremore, Okla., Jerry Cherry of Siloam Springs; sisters, Glenda Owens and Betty Sue Maples, both of Siloam Springs, and Hope Cherry of Colcord.

Funeral services were Jan. 25 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Logan Shelley, Jason Billups, and D.J. McCarter officiating. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery, near Cherokee City. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Gary D. Chism

Gary D. Chism, 67, of Gravette passed away January 25, 2014, in Rogers. He was born November 25, 1946, in Bentonville, the son of Carl Chism, Jr., and Naomi Townzen Chism. Gary retired from Kraft Foods in Bentonville. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen Tucker Chism, of the home; four daughters Julie Cook of Gravette, Karla Ballmann and husband Matt of Gravette, Tracy Warren and husband Byron of Gravette, Katie Reynolds of Bella Vista; and one brother, Chuck Chism of Bentonville; five grandchildren, Tyler Martin, Skyler Warren, and Katlynn Martin, Jacob Ballmann and Billy Cook.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday; January 29, 2014, at the Bentonville Cemetery, with Pastor Darrell Kepler officiating. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th Street, Rogers. Online condolence to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.

Reba Haggard

Reba Pearl Haggard, 87, of Marysville, Wash., died at her home on Jan. 17, 2014.

She was born to Felix and Georgia Wilmoth of Decatur on March 11, 1926. She graduated from Decatur High School and shortly after became a beautician, eventually owning her own salon in Kansas City, Mo. She married James Haggard on April 7, 1945. She and James started a group home for the mentally handicapped, which they ran together for more than 12 years. She enjoyed volunteering at her local Baptist Church and was involved with her family. She also enjoyed cooking and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and her only son, Larry Haggard.

She is survived by her daughters, Janice Guss, and Linda Williams and husband John; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment were held at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery on Jan. 21. Arrangements were by Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery, Everett, Wash.

Alan Mason

Alan Keith Mason, 84, died at his home in Augusta, Kan., on Jan. 21, 2014.

He was born June 13, 1929, to Hollie and Edith Mae (Murray) Mason in Hillsdale, Okla. He served his country in the U.S. Army patrolling the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. He married Florence Marie Boyd on Dec. 13, 1948, in Gravette. He worked on the assembly line for Boeing and Beech and then owned and operated Alan's Auto Repair in Augusta. He also sold real estate and was an auctioneer. He was a member of a local American Legion Post and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence, on Jan. 19, 2014; son, Ronald K. Mason; sisters, Dorothy Atkins, Grace Pecha, Elaine Armas; brothers, Marion, Charles and Eugene Mason.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth Mason of Protection, Kan.; daughter, Sherry Mason of Augusta; brothers, Hollie Mason of Springdale, Ronald Mason of Fairfield, Ohio, and Bert Mason and wife Mary Jane of Chipley, Fla.; and two granddaughters.

A double service was held Jan. 24 for both Alan and Florence Mason in the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are by Dunsford Funeral Home & Crematory of Augusta.

Scott Neill

Scott Neill, 56, died Jan. 21, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Springdale, on Aug. 23, 1957, to Donald and Janet (Freeman) Neill. He was the husband of Debbi (Eaton) Neill. He loved being a truck driver and was an avid home karaoke enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Neill.

Scott is survived by his father, Don and stepmother, LeEtta Neill of Siloam Springs; wife, Debbi of Rogers; three sons, Ryan Neill of Bentonville, Justin Neill of Little Rock, and Cameron Neill of Indiana; brother, Stephen Neill of Highfill; three sisters, Deadra Fuller of Highfill, Terry Hall of Cave Springs, Julia Garrison of Springdale; and five grandchildren.

Graveside service was Jan. 25 at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Rogers. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, Rogers.

Barbara 'Bobbie'

Lorraine VanOss Newkirk

Barbara "Bobbie" Lorraine VanOss Newkirk, 75, died Jan. 21, 2014, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born June 15, 1938, one of three children born to Bernadine VanOss Covault in Dayton, Ohio. She retired in Las Vegas, Nev., from Valley Hospital and moved to northwest Arkansas in 2005 to be near her family. She was a member of Faith Bible Church.

She was preceded by her mother in 2001.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Bo VanOss and his wife Rickie; sister, Joy and husband David Coonfield; twin sons, Ronald Newkirk and Donald Newkirk; grandson, Shawn Newkirk.

She was cremated at Bella Vista Funeral Home. A memorial service was held at Faith Bible Church on Jan. 25. Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ronald Pool

Ronald Wayne Pool, 61, of Decatur, died Jan. 24, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 14, 1952, in Big Spring, Texas, to Floy Mae Henderson and Cecil Pool. He served in the United States Army for 12-plus years and worked in maintenance for Bentonville and Decatur Public schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Brandy Pool.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly Pool of the home, whom he married May 1, 1970; three sons, David Pool and wife Teena, of Ward, Matthew Pool and wife Lindsay of Centerton, J. Scott Pool of Decatur; two daughters, April Potter and her husband Loyd of Bentonville, Kelle Pool of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Terry Pool of Decatur; one sister, Rita Scott and her husband Tommy of Elm Springs; and 10 grandchildren.

Graveside service was Jan. 25 at Decatur Cemetery with Terry Horton officiating. Full military honors were by the Rogers VFW Post No. 3031. Arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Carolyn Welch

Carolyn Sue Welch, 64, of Noel, Mo., died Jan. 24, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. 

She was born Dec. 3, 1949, in Neosho, Mo., to Ada Lea (Wells) White and Harry L. White. She was a lifelong resident of Noel and was a 1967 graduate of Noel High School. She married Donald L. "Don" Welch on Aug. 18, 1989, in Miami, Okla. She enjoyed craft projects. She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church near Noel. 

She is survived by her husband of the home; a son, Donald Brackney, Jr., of Noel; a daughter, Stacey Lynn Beckerman and husband Mark of San Antonio, Texas; one granddaughter; a great-grandson; her mother, Ada White of Neosho; a brother, Kenneth White of Noel; two sisters, Linda Jarvis of Southwest City, Mo., and Mamie Latty of Anderson, Mo.

Funeral services were Jan. 28 at the Mill Creek Baptist Church near Noel, with Mark Hall officiating.  Burial followed in the Butler Creek Cemetery near Sulphur Springs. Arrangements were by Ozark Funeral Home in Noel.
