Bible School Quartet

Church of God (Holiness) of 401 Atlanta Street, Gravette, will host a college mixed quartet from God's Bible School and College of Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 6, at 6 p.m. The public is invited to join them for the event. For more information, call 479-787-7312.

Vacation Bible School

Heritage Baptist, 307 4th Street, Gravette, will be having Vacation Bible School July 14-18 from 6 to 8 p.m. for children entering grades kindergarten through sixth. The theme this year is Duck Dynasty "Answering the Call!" There will be Bible lessons, crafts, games and snacks. Teams will be Bucks and Ducks! Gravette Days

Two fun-packed days are set for this year's Gravette Days celebration on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9. Activities are planned for all ages, including a 5K run, archery and softball tournaments, Dutch oven cookoff, food, games, pretty-baby and tiny-tot contest, crowning of Miss Teen and Miss Gravette, parade, car show, live band and street dance. Gravette GDE Enrollment

Glenn Duffy Elementary School office will open on Aug. 4 for new student enrollment. Meanwhile, Pre-K through second grade enrollment packets are on the school website. Parents are encouraged to print the packet, complete it, then mail it to school as soon as possible. Supply lists are also on the GDE site: gde.gravetteschools.net.

Writers to Meet

The Siloam Springs Writers will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at First Bank Community Room, Progress Avenue, Siloam Springs. Randy Moll, from the Westside Eagle Observer, is the featured speaker. All interested writers are welcome to bring assignments as follows: Prose -- A Patriotic Story (max. 1,000 words), and Poetry -- an Epic Poem. Gentry Summer Meals

Gentry School District is again participating in the Seamless Summer program and providing free breakfasts and lunches to children 18 and under and low-cost meals for adults. The school district is offering the meals at the Gentry Middle School/High School cafeteria. Breakfasts are served between 7:30 and 9 a.m., lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, through August 1 (except that there will be no meals the week of June 30 to July 4). Adults can eat for $3.10 per meal in June and $3.25 per meal in July.

Seeking Old Newspapers

Country View Animal Care Center, two miles east of Gravette on Arkansas Highway 72, needs donations of newspapers to cover the bottoms of their animal cages. Anyone having newspapers they are willing to recycle is asked to bring their donations to the clinic. The help will be much appreciated.

Sulphur Library Opening

The Sulphur Springs Public Library, located at 512 Black Street, will reopen Monday, July 7, after being closed for some time. The library will now be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. with volunteer help. Library membership cards for an individual may be purchased for $2 and a family card is $5. Gentry Summer Reading

The summer reading program at Gentry Public Library continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 to 11 a.m., through the end of July. For those 6 or under, summer reading sessions are held on Tuesdays. For those 7 and above, the sessions are on Thursdays. Children and parents are invited to stop by the library and pick up a calendar of events.

Kids in the Woods

A "Kids in the Woods Festival" is being planned at the Flint Creek Nature Area, just off Dawn Hill Road East near Gentry. The free one-day (from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) nature camp will be held on different dates for children of different age groups -- ages 7-8, July 21; 9-10, July 22; and 11-12, July 23. The camp will emphasize education in natural history and environmental studies. Activities will include bird watching, nature hikes, tree appreciation and identification, bug kickin' (in Flint Creek) and fishing lessons in the new community pond on the property. Gravette Library Gala

The second annual Gravette Public Library fundraising gala will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Cedaridge Event Center, 10889 Hwy. 72 W., in Bentonville. The event will feature a catered dinner, casino games, silent auction and a DJ. Dress is business/casual. Tickets are available for $25 per person or $160 for a table of eight and may be purchased at the Gravette library, Arvest Bank - Gravette and the Bank of Gravett or from any library commission member. Turn the Page

Turn the Page Book Club will next meet at 5:30 p.m. on July 8 at the Gentry Public Library. The featured book will be "A Land More Kind than Home" by Wiley Cash, a story about a curious boy who witnessed a life-changing event in a town called Marshall in North Carolina. Gentry 25-year Reunion

The Gentry Class of 1989 will hold its 25-year reunion from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, in the Gentry Intermediate School. Gentry All School Alumni

The Gentry All School Alumni banquet will be held Aug. 30 in the Gentry Middle/High School cafeteria. The banquet is for anyone who has attended Gentry Schools. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Cost per meal is $25. Funds are used to provide scholarships for graduating seniors. Gravette Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is open for its seventh season, just off Arkansas Highway 72, in Old Town Park. It will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. until November. The market will feature locally grown produce, plants, creative and artistic craft items and wholesome baked goods. USDA WIC vouchers, Senior Nutrition Program vouchers, Double-the-Money senior coupons and tokens will be accepted. Gentry Farmers' Market

The 2014 Gentry Farmers' Market will be held at the Main Street Pavilion, 500 East Main Street, with Melissa Graef as the director. Those with produce may set up under the pavilion in the 11 by 14 foot space. The Pavilion, which will provide shelter from the rain and sun, is at the corner of Arkansas Highway 59 and Main Street. Hiwasse Farmers' Market

A farmers' market opened in Hiwasse on the first Saturday in May and will continue to be open there throughout the summer months. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the vacant lot, near Not Too Shabby, in Hiwasse. Items featured will be local produce and craft items. NWA Riding Club

NWA Riding Club playdays are being held at the Luca Don Equestrian Center, located 4 miles west of Gentry on Arkansas Highway 12. Sign-up time is 5:30 p.m., with activities beginning promptly at 6. Playday rodeo competitions will be held every other Saturday. Events include pole bending, flags, barrels and speed race. Updated information is available at nwaridingclub.org.

Men's Fellowship

Church Singing

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
