A festive 4th

The Reeves Brothers and the All-Americans entertained the crowd at the Gravette Fourth of July Celebration. The band -- composed of Matt Reeves, lead guitar; Cole Reeves, lead rhythm; Todd Bohannon, drums; and Kelly Bishop, bass guitar -- performed country and pop classics and original tunes. Todd is from Rogers and the other three band members are Gravette residents.

Gravette mayor Byron Warren, left, was joined by Ron Theis, pastor of Beacon Baptist Church, and his wife Denice in preparing hot dogs at Pop Allum Park Friday evening. Mayor Warren grilled the dogs, he and his helpers popped them into buns and Mike von Ree was on hand to serve them and provide condiments. Margo Thomas served snow cones in a variety of flavors. Their efforts were much appreciated by those who came out for the evening's festivities.

Gravette firefighter Mathew Goodwin, Sulphur Springs firefighter Jeremy Clayton and their families had the perfect vantage point to watch the fireworks when Jeremy pulled up his pickup at Pop Allum Park Friday evening. The fellows decided they'd prefer sitting on the toolbox instead of in the grass with all the bugs.

This group of youngsters posed for the camera atop one of the ramps at Gravette's skate park Friday evening. Despite the fact they didn't have a skateboard with them they were enjoying the park's facilities by running up and down the ramps, chasing their pals and just hanging out together while waiting for the evening's fireworks show. Other youngsters as well as adults were sitting nearby enjoying the music of the Reeves Brothers and the All-Americans band.

A clear blue sky filled with fluffy white cumulus clouds provided the perfect backdrop for folks enjoying Gravette's Fourth of July festivities Friday evening. This group, both youngsters and adults, took advantage of the chance to get some exercise by playing games on the well-kept ballfields at Pop Allum Park. Others listened to the band and visited with friends and neighbors while waiting for the annual fireworks show.
