Arsonist sentenced

BENTONVILLE -- A Bentonville man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for setting a series of abandoned house fires in 2013.

Gary Hoggatt, 55, of 305 S.E. F St. pled guilty to arson, a Class A felony, on July 10, according to court documents.

He was arrested in August in connection with four house fires. One fire happened July 16 at an abandoned house on Stagecoach Road near Gravette. Two fires happened July 24 in Highfill. The fourth was Aug. 5 on Snavely Road in Cave Springs.

Hoggatt must also abide by a 10-year suspended sentence agreement after his release and he must pay $143,000 in restitution, according to court documents.
