Bid accepted for cement work at Gentry schools

GENTRY -- Bids for cement work at the Gentry schools were opened July 16 and Diamond C. Construction was the low bidder for the projects and was awarded the contract.

According to a bid tabulation sheet supplied by Randy Barrett, superintendent of Gentry Public Schools, Diamond C Construction bid $72,002 for the proposed projects. Projects include a concession stand ramp and visitor sidewalk, a primary school playground sidewalk, a visitor bus pad, bench pads, and repairs to a slab by the football stadium.

Other bidders were Nabholz Construction, $165,373; and Flintco, $92,801.

At a special meeting on July 14, the Gentry School Board authorized Barrett to accept the low bid and offer a contract so that work could get underway this summer and be completed as soon as possible with students returning in August and football games beginning at the stadium in September.

Work is set to begin July 30, according to Barrett.
