Summer reading program coming soon

GRAVETTE -- Kim Schneider, Gravette Public Library manager, has announced the library summer reading program will kick off in mid-June at the library, located at 407 Charlotte Street, S.E., just east of the city pool. Open enrollment will begin Monday, June 16, and Schneider urges all area youngsters to sign up.

"Don't miss your chance for an awesome summer experience!" she said.

The theme of this year's reading program is "Fizz, Boom, Read!" and everyone interested is invited to attend the opening event at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17. All ages are welcome to come for the "explosions of fun."

Events planned on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer's program include:

Thursday, June 26, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Amazeum Science! A family event featuring the new children's museum coming to Northwest Arkansas.

Tuesday, July 1, 11 a.m.: Early Learner's Weather Station, ages 2-7.

Thursday, July 3, 1 p.m.: Melted Crayon Art, enrollment necessary, ages 12 and up.

Tuesday, July 8, 11 a.m.: Forensic Science Workshop - Visit the crime scene to find the evidence!, all ages.

Tuesday, July 15, 11 a.m.: Grossology and Germatology 101, all ages.

Thursday, July 17, 1 p.m.: Duct Tape Art, enrollment necessary, ages 12 and up.

Tuesday, July 22, 11 a.m.: Build It!, Architecture and Engineering, all ages.

Tuesday, July 29, 11 a.m.: Early Learners Sound of Music, ages 2-7.

The final event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m. with a science fair and ice cream party for all who were enrolled in the summer reading program.
