Cheevers and Lockhart inducted into Arkansas 4-H Hall of Fame June 11

LITTLE ROCK -- Lauren Cheevers, of Washington County, and Joshua Lockhart, of Benton County, were inducted into the 2014 Arkansas 4-H Hall of Fame at the Arkansas 4-H Teen Star and Hall of Fame Banquet held on June 11 at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock.

Anne Sortor, associate director of 4-H Youth Development and Family Consumer Science, and Tony Windham, associate vice president for agriculture - extension, presented the prestigious crystal vases to the inductees. In addition to Cheevers and Lockhart, other Hall of Fame finalists were Faith Bomstad of Benton County, Austin Hamm and Will Pohlman of Washington County, Jansen Riddle of Faulkner, Lauren Ince and Matthew Shepherd of Howard County and Glynn Smith of Pike County.

The Arkansas 4-H Hall of Fame originated to recognize truly outstanding 4-H Teen Stars who have achieved at the highest level and who have contributed to making Arkansas 4-H a dynamic and well-known organization. To be considered for the 4-H Hall of Fame, a 4-H member must be an Arkansas 4-H Teen Star, be a 4-H member who has been active and has achieved at the highest level in the club, county and state and be a 4-H member who has used personal 4-H accomplishments to help others achieve and provided outstanding leadership to 4-H. Nominations are reviewed by a state committee and interviews conducted if the selection committee feels this to be necessary. Nominations may be made annually; however, inductions into the Arkansas 4-H Hall of Fame may not be made each year. Inductions are made only when truly outstanding nominations are received which fully meet all stringent criteria. New inductees into the Arkansas 4-H Hall of Fame are announced and recognized at the Arkansas 4-H Teen Star & Hall of Fame Banquet. A photo of each inductee is displayed for permanent display at the Arkansas 4-H/C.A. Vines Center.
