Letter to the Editor

Editor,

Bravo (on last week's column regarding the placement of periods and commas inside quotation marks)!

While you're on a rant, would you please address the grammatical horror of disrespect for subjective and objective pronouns; i.e., "Susie took Pam and I to lunch." Equally as nightmarish, "myself' used as a subject, or as an object that does not refer back to the subject. Is grammar really being taught and then disregarded by the students, or is it perhaps not being taught at all?

If you will, I'll thank you kindly. And if you don't, I thank you right this minute for last week's column!
