GRAVETTE -- Hopes of a state championship run for the Lions were dashed on Feb. 26 when Gravette faced off with Maumelle in regional play at Lincoln. Gravette was mauled by Maumelle, 75-54.
Maumelle jumped to a 19-10 lead in the opening period and built on that lead throughout the game -- 42-26 at the half and 61-41 before the final period.
Otto Troutner led Gravette in scoring with 27 points. Terence Pierce added 12.
Maumelle went on to defeat Lincoln in overtime on March 1, winning the regional tournament, 73-72.
