Man arrested, charged with shoplifting cans of beer while drunk

GENTRY -- Police arrested Gabriel Caro, 38, of Decatur, on the afternoon of March 8, when he allegedly shoplifted four cans of beer by taking them out of the Dollar General Store in his pants pockets.

According to police reports, Caro is alleged to have entered the Dollar General Store two times, each time leaving with two cans of beer in his front pants pockets. When he entered the store a third time with the cans of beer still visible in his pockets and asked to use the phone, he saw that the clerk was on the phone with police and left.

Caro is alleged to have attempted taking a pair of socks as well, but they fell out of his pocket in the store, according to police reports.

Police located Caro and two of the four cans of beer, according to reports. Caro was allegedly intoxicated and "verbally aggressive" when taken into custody.

He was transported to the Benton County Jail and charged with public intoxication and shoplifting.

Gentry police also arrested Timothy B. Brinegar, 38, of Siloam Springs, on the night of March 8, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, careless and prohibited driving, driving left of center, driving on a suspended license (for DWI) and refusing to submit to a breath test for blood alcohol.
